The Silence of the Lambs was released on February 14, 1991, and grossed $272 million worldwide. It was only the third film to win Academy Awards in all five major categories: Best Picture, Best Actor (Hopkins), Best Actress (Foster), Best Director (Demme), and Best Adapted Screenplay (Ted Tally).
